Come On 05:06
I saw a film about the things that I should be And I thought maybe it's time that I watched some more TV And I can see that there's a problem here, and maybe it's me But I don't know I told myself it'd be all right 'Cause I bought some stocks in the afterlife And I sold my soul only one percent at a time Oh come on, are you coming with us To escape from the fires of these burning bridges? I read an article on what I ought to do And I thought maybe this time I leave it up to you I fix all my mistakes with Auto-Tune I told myself it'd be just fine As long as we never go outside What we don't see, we don't have to believe Ain't that right? Oh come on, are you coming with us To escape from the fires of these burning bridges? I saw an orb spinning ever close to ruin A sickness of the populace with none of us immune More, of course, than curable with a few words and a tune But I don't know I tell myself it'll be just fine If we all stand up and we sing our lines Even if we change only one man at a time So come on, are you coming with us To escape from the fires of these burning bridges?

Welcome to the moment We're on your own time now This is no longer a study Of who or why or how I heard you moved your king Into a castle made of sand I'll tell you a secret All our castles are the same Live and learn and let go And when your castles wash away Consider that we're changing And consider how you changed And if one should bring you happiness Well come on, give it back ‘Cause I counted up my chances And this is all we have Yeah I counted up my chances And this is all we have Maybe all we needed was a good friend Maybe all this undue stress will end Maybe giving isn't always at another's expense And the good outweighs the bad Maybe all we needed was to hear that I'll be alright Whether or not that's right And maybe all we needed was to put up a fight Just to give some reassurance that we're living our own lives

Perspective 02:44
Once he jumped and found he flew All the tales completely true But different was the world he knew When seen from up so high The people call from garden chairs 'How it is you fly up there?' 'I feel,' he cries, 'if I knew myself I wouldn't be able to fly' Over all the world he flew All the tales entire and true But different was the world he knew When seen from up so high And when he's past the very top He's contemplating as he drops That kings are men and borders nought Though real enough, passing by When viewed from up in the sky

The first problem is we see something new We say “man, it's all wrong, no that just won't do And the colours are green where they should be blue Like my old one “You know you've put all the dials on the wrong side And there was no need to change it, the blind can stay blind And they can lead each other, and time after time We'll say no” The second problem is we see something new We say “man, that's great, I could use a few And I really was unhappy (though I never really knew) With my old one ”Yeah, I see it's quite effective, it'll surely be fine We can spray it over here and only bad things will die We've gotta take a chance, or we'll never advance Don't you know?” Third and most important is the obvious rule That we never know enough to rightly choose Yeah, put cigarettes firmly over there in number two But don't touch that dial, it'll kill you Bad decisions leech slow poison Hear the gunfire on the horizon, oh We can only hope That all this falling only shows That all these trials force our wings to grow And you may find in time That it's by design That the reasons for these crimes Are just the falling fragments Of the walls In your mind

Apathy 03:37
So you try to do what's right Try to live a good life But you're chasing them all the time To keep everything in line And by the time the summer ends You've only alienated all your friends For lo and behold, your moral code Is yours and yours alone But will you keep on singing the same old songs Until everything you love is gone? Where silence reigns and the lights are off Singing I don't mind what you believe But the greatest sin is apathy Will you stand by while their hearts freeze? There's a mesage coming down tonight From geostationary satellite And it tells you how to live your life And it tells you what to be And you don't have to listen But I wish that you would see I know there are many people doing good out there But I'm sick of all the people that just don't seem to care
6.
There's a garden where all of us live Where all of us take and all of us give And we try to decide, demand and supply When to hold it steady, when to change our minds There's a house on the hill where the great minds strive To divide up the worth of every man's life And they watch from the towers, and they shout what to do And they're all just people like you Yeah, they're all just people like you There's a fire that burns in the night And it's black and it's white and it's grey And we're trying to find the dividing line So we'll all be fine on judgement day Oftentimes the order comes through And the masses are called to the will of the few With a helping of fear and a need to consume We'll blame all but ourselves for the fate we assume Well come on man, we have to do better than that Don't you know it's a long way back? I've not seen the Devil and I don't know the truth But I've sure seen people like you Yeah, they're all just people like you There's a garden where all of us live Where all of us take and all of us give And we try to decide, how to live out or lives In the fear and the conflict of the human mind Well come on love, we're gonna get through You hold onto me and I'll hold onto you! And don't let them tell us what we can't do 'Cause they're all just people like you Yeah they're all just people like you

She says love is just an absence And hope is false belief But there are only two kinds, man The oracle and the thief And the oracles are painting But the picture is quite bleak And the thieves are still stealing We all need something to believe And the personal wars are fought And we all lose, but it means nought For we must fight, so we don't fade away And this he knows, but he stays still He says "I've got the way but I ain't got the will" I said "Man, don't we all feel like that on Mondays?" And it's so true I have to check The question mark around my neck I said Over on the waterfront The people gather ‘round With latent negativity All scattered on the ground So I say let's walk a while Until we're lost and found But I can't presume to know what to believe 'Cause she's the oracle And I'm just the theif But Meanwhile they're asking All the people what they know Checking if it matches what they Learnt by rote They say "Do you see the monster in the Abyss, or something else?" He says "I have gazed long into the abyss, but I Only see myself." And I know all that about about fear and fear itself Yeah I know; that's why we're all afraid of ourselves Or something While asking questions we're attacked by our TV She says "I'm sick of all this conflict" as she climbs from the debris And turning off the signal as I step out of the screen I say "love is not an absence; it's just you and me"

And distilled, it brings, a song about the simple things A song of life and death and love and hate The revolution comes with bickering, not guns While the man at the altar screams "I fear change" "And what are we to be?" the dreamer asks the dream "For surely nothing's what it seems? I see duality; hubris and humility and I think it's a little too cliché" May the world come crashing down on me this day When from this dream I wake And real life Is a complex thing to calculate She said "it feels like time is all too quickly passing by And I don't know quite what to do or say" I said "I'd be concerned if you yourself were not perturbed For all of us are finite, and all of us can break" And we are what we are and were; some faceless God, the arbiter Some stupid choice the decider, of what we'll someday be Finally she turns to leave, but fleetingly she looks at me Her silence says "I still don't see." "But who are we to dream?" the butterfly asks the man "I've lived for days yet I don't know who I am" The man says "can't you see that truly I am you and you are me? Though I still feel I'll never understand" And the world comes crashing down on me as planned When from this sleep I stand And real life Is a complex thing to comprehend

When all the answers are coming through We have to make a point to pick and choose As the data accrues, we don't know quite what's true And I don't really know what to do And yeah I'm trying to work out life Just like everybody else alive But all that we've found, is the world is quite round We keep on covering the same old ground And man I'm not really sure how to live life I'm afraid I'm not doing things right And we've been running now for a long time And when you run we all run by your side 'Cause no man is an island No sea is that great And no man can comprehend Everything he breaks No man is an island No sea is that great And no man can understand Everything he's made We dance and the world turns We sing all the words we learn While all of our earnings and yearnings are burning And burning away in time And though the fire surrounds us Sometimes we get up And sometimes we're crawling, but mostly we're falling And I don't know if we can fly We're just trying to live my love So when they write the book they can fill the chapters up And we've been running now for a long time And when you run, love, I'll be by your side 'Cause no man is an island No sea is that great And no man can comprehend Everything he breaks No man is an island No sea is that great And no man can understand Everything he's made But when I see mankind Give up our time To help fellow man, Not for oil and wine When I see mankind Give up our spite And turn from needless sacrifice I think maybe We've been flying All this time
